Acquisition of Jakarta Indonesian

Project Goal:

The goal of the Acquisition Project is to record, transcribe, and enter into a computerized database, a corpus of naturalistic data from a large sample of Jakarta Indonesian child language. A total of ten children are being studied longitudinally over the course of four years. The children's ages at their first recordings ranged from 1:7 to 4:6, and each child is recorded at intervals of 7-10 days over a period of 2-4 years. In addition, data relating to each age group are being used for latitudinal studies.

The Language Acquisition Proejct is now nearing completion. We will stop recording new sessions on 1 September 2003. After that, we will continue to transcribe and code sessions which have already been recorded. By September 2005, we are planning to have the entire database on CHILDES, having undergone quality control by our research supervisors.
