The conference will take place at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology.

Travel

Airports

The nearest airport is Leipzig/ Halle Airport.
Take the train from Leipzig Airport to Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) that runs every 30 minutes.
It will take you approx. 15 minutes to get to the main railway station. A taxi ride from the airport to the city center costs about 30 Euro.

Trains

The Deutsche Bahn has an excellent website that finds connections between Leipzig and every european city. Here you can look up the train schedule: Deutsche Bahn.

Leipzig has a very good system of public transport. On the website of the LVB (Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe) you can check which trams/buses you need to take to get to specific places or print out the schedule for the stop nearest to your house/hotel.
Tickets are sold from vending machines at some tram stops, and also from booths on the Augustusplatz and in front of the train station. Tickets need to be stamped in the little orange boxes on the trams/buses when you get on.

The buildings of the University are situated in the city center, near Augustusplatz. This place can be reached by walking from the main station. Following tram lines have stops at the Augustusplatz: 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16. The tram stop closest to the Max Planck Institute is the "Deutsche Bücherei", and two tram lines pass: 16 and 2, though stopping on different corners.


Accomodation

Participants (with exception of the invited speakers) are asked to arrange for their accommodation themselves.

Restaurants: A very good site to find restaurants and find out about them (quality of the food, prices, location, etc.) is the following (in German, though): www.kreuzer-leipzig.de. Click on "Leipzig Tag & Nacht" in the right-hand toolbar.
Summer nights in Leipzig mean also 'come together' in Pubs, Bars and Cafes. Notedly famous places are Gottschedstrasse and Barfussgässchen in the city (known as 'mile of pubs') and the south periphery around Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse.
